Canes lose 3-2 in Kelowna

Rowat posts 43 save performance in loss
Kelowna, B.C
.- A skeleton crew of 10 forwards and 5 defenseman battled the defending WHL Champions to a heartbreaking 3-2 loss in their own barn on Friday night in Kelowna. The Hurricanes entered the night having given up early three goal leads in both of their previous games. But it was the Canes who kicked things off early in this one as Landon Oslanski notched a goal just a minute into the game to give the Canes an early 1-0 lead. Linden Rowat stood tall in the Lethbridge net and rebounded from two rough starts with a 19 save first period as the Canes were out shot 19-9.

The Rockets started the second period with a 5 on 3 advantage and the second placed home powerplay in the league managed to draw the equalizer. The Canes then fell behind for the first time at the eight minute mark of the second period. Rookie phenom Mitch Maxwell then tallied his 24th of the season; snapping home a pretty feed from Austin Fyten to tie the game 2-2.

A fast paced back and forth third period followed as Rowat continued to keep the Canes in it, but the Rockets would finally jam home their third of the night for the game winner in a mad scramble with just over five minutes remaining in the game. Rowat would finish the night with an impressive 43 saves and the night's 1st star honors.

The Canes will wrap up their B.C. Division road trip on Saturday as they take on the Kamloops Blazers. Game time is 8:00 PM MST.
