2012 Training Camp - Fitness Testing
 

Lethbridge, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes kick off camp tomorrow with registration, but on Monday the veterans and a few rookies were put through their paces with fitness testing.

The players went through five different categories conducted by Hurricanes Strength and Conditioning Coach Steve Szilagyi. The tests included: Broad Jump, Pull Ups,

T-test and Bench Press. Here were the leaders in each category:

Bench Press (150 lbs.):

Graham Hood – 41 reps

Ty Rimmer – 23 reps

Jamal Watson, Albin Blomqvist – 22 reps each

Broad Jump:

Jamal Watson – 2.84m

Albin Blomqvist – 2.81m

Russ Maxwell – 2.77m

Pull Ups:

Dan Johnston – 37

Macoy Erkamps, Michael Sofillas – 32 each

Sit Ups:

Dan Johnston – 100

Tanner Kovacs – 68

Craig Leverton – 56

T-Test:

Russ Maxwell – 8.61s

Macoy Erkamps – 9.04s

Michael Sofillas – 9.14s

Following camp, the Canes will prepare for their exhibition schedule which starts on September 5th (vs. Calgary in Taber) before hosting Medicine Hat at the ENMAX Centre on September 12th. Tickets are $10 for the exhibition game in Taber and Lethbridge and they are available through Taber and Lethbridge Minor Hockey Associations.
