Canes prospects continue to shine
 

Lethbridge, AB - With the season officially over for hockey players, the Lethbridge Hurricanes now focus on the WHL Bantam Draft which is Thursday, May 3rd in Calgary.

A couple of the Canes former draft picks had breakout seasons once again for their midget teams and have been recognized for their outstanding work on the ice.

Not only did Joel Topping (2010, 2nd round bantam pick, 41st overall) and his Red Deer Rebels come back from a 5-1 3rd period deficit to win the Telus Cup 6-5 in double overtime, but Topping was named the Top Defenceman of the 2012 Telus Cup. Topping finished the regular season at nearly a point a game with 31 points in 34 games. In the playoffs he had 7 points in 10 post season games.

Also, the Canes 8th round draft pick last year (157th overall) Remi Laurencelle not only won the Manitoba Midget Hockey League title with the Winnipeg Wild, but he was named MVP of the Manitoba Midget AAA Hockey League as well. Laurencelle finished 2nd in league scoring wiht 73 points in 43 games, while he added 15 points in 8 games.
