Lethbridge, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes welcomed their first pick (4th overall) from this year’s Bantam Draft, Giorgio Estephan and his family to the Hurricanes organization on Tuesday.
Estephan is 5’11, 168 pounds and in 32 games with SSAC Bantam AAA (AMBHL) this past season, he registered 100 points (43G, 57A) and added 32 PIM’s.
The 15-year old was also recently one of only 6 players in the province (and 42 across Canada) to be named to the NHLPA’s All-Canadian Mentorship Camp in Mississauga, Ontario starting on July 17th.
Estephan addressed the media and shared his thoughts on being a high Bantam Draft pick as well as his future with the Hurricanes. He was first asked his reaction on meeting everyone face to face and coming to the realization that he’s a Lethbridge Hurricane.
“It’s really surreal right now, it’s something I’ve looked to my whole life and just coming up this past year, it’s been a joy to see this place and coming up one day playing in this building.”
“(Expectations on Being 4th) We always gotta learn how to embrace that, and it’s always something that you want to aspire to be ... especially being 4th it’s something that’s overwhelming, but I liked it and I’m ready for the challenge”
