Lethbridge, AB – More than 80 players from across the province are in Leduc, AB this weekend for the 2012 Team Alberta Under 17 Selection Camp which gets underway tonight. Five Hurricanes draft picks and one listed player are among those showcasing their talents hoping to earn a spot on the U17 team after camp wraps up on Sunday.

In addition to these players from the 2011 draft class, the remaining six first round picks made their respective U16 teams - Ryan Pilon, Kolten Olynek, Carter Amson, Bryton Sayers, Colby Chartier and Phoenix Worth.
Team Alberta U17 is the final stage of the Team Alberta Male Program which gives athlete’s exposure to International Competition and opens the door for a chance to participate in Hockey Canada’s National Programs. The World U17 Hockey Challenge is the pinnacle event for an athlete in the provincial Team Alberta Program and is the first stage of Hockey Canada’s Program of Excellence which in turn leads to the National Team Canada U18 and U20 Programs.
